Speaker: Gavin Peacock

Sinful, troubled hearts are often rooted in unbelief. When Christ had a troubled heart, it was sinless and through Him, our temptation to act sinfully when we are troubled can be removed because Christ is concerned for us even in times of unbelief. If we believe in Christ, we believe in the Father also - the cure for troubled hearts comes through the Son and takes us to the Father, being received by faith. We know that at last, believers will be taken home to be with the Lord - this is the ultimate relief for troubled hearts. We know that if we are His, all will be well. Peter was over-confident in self and impatient - Christ rebuked him, warning he would fall, but that he would be restored in the end. Thomas doubted Christ's words about His purpose and promises, but Christ showed grace toward him - 'You know'. Philip sought experience above belief, but Christ rebuked him for reliance on 'self - 'He who has seen Me has seen the Father'. If we focus on Christ, the troubled heart will become a faithful heart, with a promise of Kingdom usefulness and answered prayer. The cure for a troubled heart is faith in Christ and we need to seek to know Him more.
