Psalm 23 is about living as a believer and having joy in life and the assurance that the darker the shadow, the closer the Shepherd.. We are to remember that it is the eternal and self-sufficient God who is our Shepherd and that is why believers want for nothing - we don't realise He is all we need until we realise He is all we have. God is the supplier of all our needs and the One who restores us when we are low. He is patient with His sheep and pursues us with a shepherd's love. He also leads us in the path to righteousness - Jesus is the Good Shepherd we follow through the wilderness of our lives and gives us rest if we trust in Him. The only way of entering the sheepfold is through Jesus who gave His life for His sheep. If we know Him as Lord, we shall lack nothing even through all the trials of life.
