The Lord is my Shepherd, Companion and Host - different aspects of our Shepherd's care for us, helping us to realise how much He cares for us. The valley is not the end of the journey, but feasting and fellowship for ever out of His mercy and grace. The liberality of our Host is shown in the preparation of a table and an overflowing cup, even in the presence of our enemies - His service to those He has saved. We should reflect this in our lives, showing love to others. Those who won't forgive are strangers to God's liberality - we should remember the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost. The mercy of my Host is shown in that goodness and mercy that follows us when we turn to Him. He never fails us. We are reminded that we will go at last to dwell in the House of the Lord forever - the forever home of God's people is with Him in glory. Though the way is hard on the pilgrimage, the Shepherd will always care for and sustain us on the journey.
