This world does not afford lasting happiness in the things of this life, but true happiness is available to those who do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly and walk in the way of God. Avoiding the influences of this world and walking within Biblical boundaries, trusting in God's power and wisdom brings true joy. Sin never ends in pleasure, so we should avoid all worldly influences - we should seek Godly happiness that lasts and delight in the law of the Lord. It is not enough to know God's word - we need to know the God of the word. True happiness means reaching out to Christ who is our lasting pleasure. The happy man is one who has been chosen by God and is rooted in His unchanging love - inward spiritual irrigation leads to the visible fruit of Christ-likeness in the Christian life. The mature Christian continues to produce fruit in all the seasons of life but the wicked face final separation from God. Consider the end - God knows the righteous who trust in Christ for salvation, who gave Himself that He might bring men to God.
