The temptation is to resist God's will and providences but we are to learn contentment in God's promises. It is learned in humility, looking to God rather than self - the preaching of the Word exalts God and humbles men. Our eyes should be raised to God's glory and not centred on 'self. We are to have a humble faith. We are also to have a childlike dependence on God as our Father, a weariness of sin and satisfaction in Him, trusting Him to take care of us. Our true hope comes when we are weaned from 'self and find our hope in Him for eternity. New life comes from trusting in Jesus and always belonging to Him.
