Mary's extravagant devotion reflected how much Christ was worth to her. We are to remember that Christ is worthy of our service and should press on with the capabilities and strengths God has given us. Christ should engage all our desires and affections - those who are forgiven much, love much. Our worship is to be filled with extravagant devotion - lost in wonder, love and praise. Unlike Mary, Judas showed false devotion - he had an outward veneer of holiness but was inwardly full of greed. Outward gifts should not be confused with grace and we are to beware of the deception of sin. We need to guard our hearts - do my actions declare my love for Jesus? We should seek to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to His word as those devoted to Him. That we might grow in Christ and enjoy His presence, show our love for Him and remember what great love He has for us.
