Speaker: Gavin Peacock

Encounters with Jesus draw out the response of either belief or unbelief. Many of Christ's disciples, apart from the twelve, had turned away from following Him. Even with Jesus' family, His brothers did not see who He was and regarded Him only from a worldly point of view. Christ, however, was following God's will - His time had not yet come and His desire was for God's glory. The world has no love for the things of God, but Christians are not to be governed by this world or be ashamed of Christ and His words. many of the religious leaders also failed to believe in Christ, even though they knew the word of God, preferring the glory of men rather than God. Christ revealed the hypocrisy of those who did not believe. The world often thinks of Christ as being a good man, but a 'good man' who says he is God when he is not is either a deceiver or a lunatic, but the words of Christ are true and it is only when we give up our unbelief and put our trust wholly in Him that we can know eternal life.
