Jesus is the Light who overcomes the darkness - everything is dark in spiritual terms without Christ. The Light reveals the destiny of all men, whether heaven or hell and whoever is not for Him is against Him. John the Baptist was a humble and faithful preacher who bore testimony about the Light, that others might come to Christ and have life in His name. The faithful preacher does not bear witness to himself, but is sent by God to open the eyes of the blind. Christians are to use their lives as a shining witness before the world for Christ. Sadly, there are many who reject the Light, but there is no salvation without Christ and they walk in darkness. Only those who receive Christ and believe on His name are given the right to be called children of God. Salvation is the gift of God alone - no-one can be born again by the will of man. We are to witness and testify to Christ in our lives.
