The wedding at Cana was the first of seven signs recorded in the Gospel of John, revealing something of His identity, the Seed of the woman promised in Genesis. His priority was to fulfil the Father's will as He moved toward the time of His death and sacrifice. We are to remember that Christ is to be the first love in our lives - our love for others increases more when we love God most. Christ is also the One who makes all things new. As He showed His mercy and power in turning water into wine, we are to remember that He is the only one who can make us clean from sin - grace and truth comes through the Lord Jesus Christ, when we put our faith in Him. Jesus is also the Bridegroom of the church - He provides for us, whereas all others fail. We obtain all from His fullness - He is the only One who will be with us until the end if we put our trust in Him.
