We are often excited over various life experiences that cause us to feel certain of God and of our future, but quite often those moments fade or become obscured by “not so exciting” events or even trials. Today, on the Sanctified by Truth broadcast we’re continuing with a text in II Peter 1 that often, at first glance, stirs controversy. Yet its meaning and intent is to prompt us to direct our focus properly to what are the true indicators that we actually are in Chris,t and what the object of our faith ought to be. When it comes to the “calling and electing” phrase in verse 10, we must not miss the purpose of what we have been “chosen” for. We, of course, should take a careful interest in such texts, controversy or not, especially considering verse 11 which reads, “For in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.” So please listen closely as we pick-up where we left off last time in dealing with our assurance of who we are and where we’re headed.
