Theology shapes our behaviour and the way we walk - we are urged to walk worthy of our high calling as we live our lives as believers and together as a local church. A healthy church should be one that is united with a testimony before the world which is worthy of Christ. The unity of which Paul speaks is brought about by the work of the Holy Spirit and is something that should be maintained. Christ makes us one in Him. We should remember what we have in common and what God has wrought. The church is one body with Christ as its Head. We have one Lord, one baptism, one God and Father and one doctrine of salvation in Christ alone. To maintain unity, we need humility, gentleness, patience and forbearance which comes from God Himself. The gifts that attain unity are given to believers through the Holy Spirit. We need to encourage one another and strive together for maturity in the faith and use these gifts to promote the unity and health of the church.
