Many have confused ideas about what a Christian is, showing the need for a clear understanding. The first Christians were so-called in a derogatory manner, but to bear the name of Christ is the greatest honour. Becoming a Christian is not just a question of going to church or being a good person - we are saved by God's mercy and born again by Him, trusting in Christ as both Lord and Saviour. True Christians are marked out by their love for Christ and for one another. Christ came to release His people from the bondage of sin by dying on the cross. Christ offers forgiveness to all who come to Him, if only we will trust Him fully as Saviour.
