We need to understand the true meaning of godliness - it is not something we can bring about in ourselves, but was unveiled or manifested in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the foundation of our salvation through His death and resurrection. Christ was raised from the dead that we might be justified. He is seen by the world when the gospel is faithfully preached and proclaimed to unbelievers. When a person truly believes, Christ is received as their Lord, with that certain hope that we will be received into glory at the end. Our union with Christ in this life makes us more like Him - putting off the old self and changed from one degree of glory to another. The only way to be saved is through Christ - our sins are forgiven and we have new life in Him.
