Is God Fair and Just? (PART 2)
Speaker: Adam Meisberger
For some reason, many people have this perception that for God to be just, He must treat all of us the exact same way—and if we have it hard in this life—a person might think the only way for God to be just is to give the same amount of hardship to everyone else as well. But Jesus says otherwise.
You may see your life as unfair at times, you may not understand how God can do certain things in your life and then not do the same things for someone else. And you might cry out to God and say, “Why is this happening to me? Don’t you love me? Will you not show me justice! Will you not treat me with mercy as you have treated that person over there!?”
And Jesus’ reply to you is, “Follow me.” Why are you so concerned that God do everything the way that you think He should? Who made you God? Are you willing to lay your questions aside, are you willing to lay aside all of those things you don’t understand about God, about how this fits with His being perfectly Just and Right and True and Good and Loving—and will you stop trying to make it all fit with how you think God should do it all, as if you have a better understanding of what is loving, right, good and just than God does? Will you instead just fall to your knees and say, “God, I don’t know how You are doing it all, I don’t know exactly why these things are happening or why You say all You do in Your Word—but I surrender all to You—I trust You—I know You are perfectly Just and Right and Loving and Good and True, even when I simply cannot understand how and why You are doing it all. But all my trust is in You. I choose to believe You and trust You, no matter what, even when I can’t make sense of why You do what You do or say what You say.”
