The Unceasing Anguish and Sorrow of Our Hearts for Those Who Do Not Know the Truth of Christ
Speaker: Adam Meisberger
In Romans 9:1-5, the Apostle Paul reveals his deep agony concerning how so many of his Jewish brothers do not see and know the Messiah. Paul has great sorrow and unceasing anguish in his heart that so many of his Jewish brothers do not know the very One whom they have been waiting for over a thousand years. All of Israel has been waiting for their King, the Messiah, and now He has come, and so many of the Jews have missed Him before their very eyes! Paul can hardly stand it. It bothers him so much that so many of his Jewish brothers, men who know the Scriptures, men who study the Scriptures, men who pray for the coming of Messiah—in their blindness, and because of their hard-hearts, they have rejected the Messiah! This is such a burden to Paul.
What about you? How is your burden for your family members who you know do not know Christ? Do you run from the weight of that burden, because you do not want to think about your family, the people you love, entering into eternal hell? You might say, “I don’t like to think about that”? Oh, but you must! Let it weigh on you that some of the very people you love are headed for a Christless eternity! They are not washed in the blood of the only Lamb who can cleanse them from their sin. Think about it, weep over it—so that you offer up prayers to God that He might open their eyes to see and change their hearts before it is too late. There is nothing that ought to be more troubling to you than the people you love not surrendering to Jesus Christ—for unless they surrender to Christ, nothing in this life matters. They are rapidly moving headlong into eternity, unprepared, forever separated from God. Let that weigh on you, and pray for them, and don't give up!
