We as believers are being made like Christ, therefore we will also go through sufferings with Christ, and through these sufferings, God is making us increasingly like Christ, increasingly becoming human to the fullest extent—being image bearers of God. So, in our sufferings in this world, God is truly working these sufferings out for our good. The “all things” in our life are being worked towards this one thing—to our Christlikeness. God knows that for us to be conformed to the likeness of Jesus Christ is the greatest good and it will be to our greatest joy. Being like Jesus Christ is what we were meant to be, it is the only thing that will be to the greatest fulfillment in our lives. Every human feels that there has to be more to life than “this”. But one day, when we are fully formed into the likeness of Jesus Christ, that feeling of “there has to be more than life than this”—that feeling will never haunt us ever again—because we will know what it is that is the greatest fulfillment and greatest joy. It is Christ, and being like Christ. What is coming for us in glory is a wonder to behold! Oh, what a day it will be when we will see Jesus Christ face to face, the day that we shall be like Him!
