Mankind has been at war since the Fall, caught in the conflict between Satan and God. Christ, however, came to destroy the works of the devil. While the first Adam fell to temptation in Eden, Christ, the second Adam was victorious over Satan. Though the devil sought to keep Christ from going to the cross, Christ came to give His life as a ransom for many. The devil blinds the minds of unbelievers to sin and its consequences, but to be truly human is NOT to sin. Our sinful nature was inherited from Adam and only Christ can take it away, paying the penalty for sin - we are no longer guilty if we are in Him. If we are Christ's, we have a new Father and are no longer children of the world. When we become part of God's family, His love for us is reflected in our love for one another. Our rock-solid hope for the future is that when He appears, we shall be made like Him - our suffering and affliction now is momentary compared to the glory to come. The world searches for hope, but that can only be truly found in Christ.
