The Comfort of Gods Saving Will (fbcfenton)

• Feb 1, 2012

Speaker: Dr. John E. Greever

Overview: One would be dense indeed to not realize the significance of the “little ones” to Jesus. Matthew 18 is full of kind and tender references to these precious little ones (See verses 1-6, 10, 12-14). However, though the immediate and direct application of what is said refers to children, do not miss Jesus’ inference in using the term “children” as a metaphor for believers (See verses 3-4). Jesus, thusly, calls Christians God’s children. This is a motif that is common in the New Testament. John, in his First Epistle, even uses this term regularly to refer to Christians. Therefore, we must as Christians grasp the comfort that Jesus gives here concerning salvation and the will of the Father. Essentially, Jesus says that God’s people are safe and secure in the saving will of the Father.
