Overview Today is Reformation Sunday. Today we celebrate the gospel of Jesus Christ that was reclaimed through the Reformation of the sixteenth century at a time when the gospel had been lost. This was a time when other things were substituted for the gospel, and the people (because of their ignorance) did not even know it. Ignorance of the gospel is the greatest ignorance of all. We are living at such a time at the present. Although today there may be different forms and models of religious deception, the deception is there none-the-less. The gospel is forgotten, and the people are missing the gospel. If another generation of this persists, then the bitter harvest will come. Today, I want us to see from this text the value, power, and use of the gospel as given in this passage. Having done this, let us seek to apply it to our lives and to our church in an attempt to be faithful to the gospel in the coming days.
