Introduction “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.” This is the way the hymn, “The Solid Rock”, begins. It calls us throughout the song to resist the temptation to put our hope, our expectation, and our wishes in anything other than Jesus Christ. This is particularly true concerning our hope for salvation. We especially see this anchor of hope in Christ in the Scripture texts, which I have chosen for my sermon this morning.
