The resurrection is important for us all today. Jesus came and stood amongst His disciples where they were assembled together in a closed room when they were filled with fear, failure and discouragement - these are words for all His disciples. Christ gives peace to fearful souls and those who are discouraged and there is the personal joy of knowing that God is with us. The risen Jesus gets past the locked doors of our hearts and His wounds become windows of His love for us. Do we know this peace that only Christ can give? Christ also gives an extraordinary mission to ordinary people to proclaim the gospel to the world. It is a privilege for believers to be sent out as His ambassadors and we are to have confidence in Him. We are called to take the gospel to all cultures and love for the lost should drive our evangelism. The risen Christ also gives extraordinary power for this - without the Holy Spirit, we are unable to fulfil the Great Commission in proclaiming God's forgiveness through Christ. The risen Saviour is the One who alone holds the key to open the doors of our hearts.
