Marriage is God's institution, not man's. Any distortion of God's institution of marriage (as He defines it) is perversion. We work from God's definition, not our own. Marriages are not ended(before God) by a loss-of-love of the man and woman for each other, they are not ended by adultery and marriages are not ended by legal divorce, they are only ended by death. As Christians we should not argue for the right to appeal to 'hard hearts' as an excuse for divorce and/or remarriage (while one's spouse is still living), Christians do not have hard hearts, they have new hearts and this means that they will seek to honor God's definition of marriage even if it means they must never remarry even if divorced by a hard-hearted spouse who remarries. Marriage is higher than ourselves and our own desire, God is the One who joins a man and a woman together (whatever the circumstances) and we must acknowledge this by our living.
