The next message in our series on Baptist Distinctives is entitled "Two Offices of the Church." The church we read about in the New Testament was organized in a very simple way. Christ is the head of every local church. There is no human head of the church. The Holy Ghost equips the church with many gifts, but there are only two modern offices spoken about in the church, pastor and deacon. There are many other words given for these two roles, and we will look tonight at the description of their duties and qualifications as given in the New Testament. Tonight we also will be singing, "I Will Serve Thee," "When We All Get to Heaven," and "The Longer I Serve Him."
