When God created man, He created man capable of giving a personal account of himself to God. We were made in God’s image, and when God made us in His image, He made us with the ability to choose. He willingly chose to disobey the Lord. It is not right to try to force one’s religion or belief upon another individual. He has a God-given right to believe anything he wishes to believe. This does not mean, however, that he can be a Christian by believing anything he wishes to believe, because Jesus Christ said that there is only one way to heaven (John 14:6). The church is not a despot over men’s consciences. Instead the church uses the incredible power of influence as we share our faith. The Gospel message has power to change from the inside out, not from the outside in.
