How to Avoid Becoming a "Grim Statistic"
Speaker: Kenny Burns
Last week I checked out the website of the association of churches of which our church is a member. As I scanned the 2018 statistical report of the churches provided by the association, I reached the conclusion that the statistics are grim!
Of the 25 churches that make up the association, thirteen churches reported NO CONVERSIONS during 2018. That means that 52% of the churches do not have an intentional evangelism strategy in place. Evangelism is being totally neglected!
Of the 12 churches that reported conversions (not counting ODC), only four churches reported more than twelve conversions. That means that in 83% of the churches, evangelism is such a neglected ministry that less than one person per month believed in Jesus and received the gift of eternal life!
I don’t want The Open Door Church to become one of these “grim statistics!” So in this sermon I will preach about a statement made by Jesus when He said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37b-39, NIV).
