An Honest Acknowledgement (“I would have despaired”): The Bible never sugarcoats life’s realities, nor does it hide the weaknesses and failures of the heroes of the Bible. Strangely, today’s people want to excoriate and destroy people of the past because of perceived failures or mistakes. The Bible shows our humanity in all of its colors, good and bad. There are times when the best of people, God’s people, are tempted to despair because of life’s troubles and disappointments.
