Introduction: We have been having flooding in our area for the last number of days. Less than two years ago, we had a similar type of flooding. So, in less than two years, our area has experienced historic flooding. We know about floods; we know about the importance of stability and safety in floods. Jesus uses flooding as a metaphor about life’s problems and troubles. He uses this metaphor to explain why it is important to rightly understand His teaching and apply His teaching to our lives. Tonight, in this message, I want to talk about how Christians can experience stability in life through Christian obedience. I want to consider four ideas pertaining to this issue: (1) the importance of knowing and applying the truth; (2) the inevitability of life storms; (3) connecting to the truth in life storms; and (4) the endurance of a grounded life.
