Introduction: This is the last of the seven sayings of Christ from the cross. This saying immediately follows Jesus’ exclamation, “It is finished (see John 19:30).” Jesus’ final statement, recorded in Luke 23:46, represents a final committal of faith on His part, having finished the saving work that He had come to do. The storm of divine wrath has passed; now He commits Himself and His accomplished work into the hands of the Father for final disposition of the grave and serious issues embedded in His saving work.
