Introduction: The societal, political, and cultural situation of Israel during the days of 1 Kings 18 were very similar as today in the United States of America. The leader of the nation followed idolatry, and the people lived wayward, immoral, and idolatrous lives. The leaders and the people of Israel had so disregarded and discarded the religion of Yahweh that true religion had almost gone altogether. Those who were true to the living God were few and hidden in the shadows. It was in this kind of situation that God brought a great revival. I want us to think about our need for true and genuine revival, and I want us to begin to pray diligently for a great working of God in revival in our day and in our generation.
