Introduction: Paul began Philippians chapter 2 by addressing the glory of the gospel and the need for Christian unselfishness and love. This led him to talk about Christ as the ultimate example of unselfishness and love. In verses 6-8, Paul speaks of Christ’s condescension and humiliation in the incarnation. But this Christological section of the chapter ends with the exaltation of Christ and the submission of all to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in verses 9-11. Tonight, I want to focus on verse 9 under the heading of the exaltation of Jesus Christ. Tonight, in our message, we will think together about the exalted position that Christ now holds after His resurrection from the dead and ascension to heaven. We will see in verse 9 how Christ received such an exalted status and to what extent He is exalted now and forever.
