To be persecuted is not just actual harm to someone, but the threat of harm... Those who are poor in spirit contradict the whole 'self-esteem' aspect of humanism. The world must persecute true demonstrations of righteousness realizing that it exposes their counterfeit righteousness. Contentment is not distraction from pressure, but trusting God while facing pressure.
