Did Israel fail so as to make God completely reject them? No. God is not d one with Israel. But in the meantime, God, by their transgression brought salvation to the Gentiles. God is able to overrule the transgression of the one to be of benefit to another. We cannot take the failure of others, or the evidence that the Holy Spirit is not working in them as evidence that God is not at work at all, or as God failing in any way. Paul warns not to forget our privileged position in knowing the truth. it is because of God's grace that we know the truth, and that we want to know it. We should not feel proud of our knowledge, we should feel privileged. Paul hopes that He will provoke His fellow Jews to jealousy by his ministry to the Gentiles.
