Write each term and phrase, then beside this write what you think this means. In verse 3 we are told that the man of lawlessness is a “son of destruction.” Why is he called this? In what sense does a sinful and evil leader bring destruction? In verse 4 we are told that the man of lawlessness exalts himself above even God Himself. Why does he do this? In the sermon Pastor Greever referenced the man of lawlessness and the moral degeneracy or decline. In what sense is the man of lawlessness a reflection of this moral decline, and in what sense does he give full ventilation to ultimate moral degeneracy? In verses 9-10 the man of lawlessness is identified with the activity of Satan, supernatural activities, and deception of wickedness. How do these expressions help characterize the evil, deceptive, and remarkable powers of the man of lawlessness? The religious apostasy participates in the evil of the man of lawlessness. How does an apostate false church help advance the evil plans of the man of lawlessness? (use your imagination!) How do you think Christ differs from the man of lawlessness? Explain.
