It wasn’t human wisdom that led the wise men to Christ. They didn’t find Jesus. God brought them to Jesus. Matthew is determined to convey this truth to his audience; that apart from God’s intervention, humankind will never comprehend or believe in God’s way of working through the Christ-child.
