Re-energising the Word of God

• Mar 31, 2019

Speaker: Alan Lorrimer-Riley

Abstract: Josiah, responded to hearing the fullness of the Word of God by putting right the wrong things that had been done. The covenant was that made to Moses and this made Josiah see how bad things had become. Considering modern times, raises the question of how can we put right the current bad situations, and as with Josiah, the answer is reenergising to the Word of God, particularly in a time when the Word of God has been forgotten by people. Many say they don't agree with the bible, but have not actually read and understood it for themselves. Often when they do, the revelation of the meaning strikes home meaningfully and God becomes real. We need to make more use of the bible, a resource God has given us. We are not living in a static world, negative spiritual forces are at work requiring us to be sure of God's provision and wants for us. Our nation is based on biblical principles and ignoring the bible restricts understanding of our national foundations. People want to accept the values without understanding their origins. If we cannot correct our lapses, God will eventually step in and deal with it. But UK values come from the bible and we must return to folloing them. We need to have confidence in the book of God's Word. Especially by sharing it with others outside the Church. Many do not have a negative view of the bible solely because they have never read it, so when they do, they are amazed in what it contains. Particularly as it gives a reason to hope.
