Preparing & Equipping the Church - Part 3 [Luke] (Rod Ohmes)
Speaker: Rod Ohmes
On the road to Emmaus, the two disciples almost missed the significance of history's greatest event because they were too focused on their disappointments and problems. But as they ate together that night, the light bulb came on. And though Jesus could have revealed fresh truth to these two disciples, He chose to expound on the old instead.
In the upper room, Jesus deals with the disciples' fear by immediately saying, “Peace!” and He deals with their doubt by inviting them to see and touch His wounds [v.38-40]. What a patient and loving Savior!
Jesus went out of His way to prove His bodily resurrection:
- A physical resurrection is important because it proves that Jesus has complete victory over sin.
- A physical resurrection is also important because it proves that God is satisfied with Jesus’ sacrifice.
The physical resurrection of Jesus is what fueled the disciples’ passion and perseverance. Jesus tells His followers what to preach, where to preach it, and how to preach it. Christians must make Christ’s purpose their purpose.
