Introduction: There is a lot of utopian talk today. Politicians are talking about a utopian society based on political philosophy and ideology. It is madness! Every time political leaders talk like they are going to solve all of society’s problems through the political and governmental process, you can count on two things: 1) Their solutions require a giving up of personal freedoms to the government; and 2) The loss of freedom and the growth of power in the government results in suffering, deprivation, and harm. Tonight’s final talk in this series on “The Christian, Death, and Eternity” focuses on the hope of heaven as it applies to the human race. We have focused so far on the individual Christian’s experience, but now I want to broaden the scope to include history and the entire world. We will find tonight that the only hope for the human race is God’s redemptive work and promise in Christ.
