Revelation is written to people living in exile, to God's people making their way in the midst of Babylon. Today, we reflect on the attractiveness of Babylon, her power to lure us towards a way of life that seems normal, yet is at odds with God's kingdom. Recognising this danger, John writes to wake us up, and he does so by startling us with satire: Babylon is a prostitute!
