Jesus constantly clashed with the Pharisees regarding their traditions regarding the Sabbath. They did not understand that "the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." In today's text Jesus declares Himself to be "the Lord of the Sabbath" (The Creator God) by healing a man's withered hand on the Sabbath.
