God has brought the family of Jacob to Israel to preserve the people with whom He had entered into a covenant relationship. In God's sovereignty Joseph was placed in authority and God's favor is bestowed upon Israel and his sons, even while in Egypt. Jacob(Israel) blesses Pharaoh in an acto of God's kindness and grace. But Jacob makes Joseph swear that he will be buried in the land of promise...that is where God's covenant plants His chosen people.
