Jesus is stopped along his journey and asked what it takes to obtain eternal life. He leads this man and his disciples in a conversation about what eternal life looks like in this life. He mentions nothing about what happens to folks when they die. Eternal life is a gift for the living, not the dead. The standard for how to live this life is the first will be last and the last will be first.
