He looks at two parables of treasure : the man who stumbles upon treasure and sells all he has to buy the field it's in, and the merchant who is seeking a pearl and sells all he has to buy one of great value. The good news of the Kingdom of God is a treasure worth our time, money and sacrifice. 1. The Kingdom of heaven is worth everything - do we value it? 2. Entering the Kingdom is costly - are we willing to let go other things we are holding onto too tightly. If we are already followers of Christ, we need to guard against distraction, cynicism and allowing other things to come into our live so that Christ becomes an added extra.
