Andy Constable looks at the second of three Kingdom parables from Matthew 13. He outlines that there is an enemy, that the Christian life can be frustrating and disappointments are to be expected. Nonetheless 1. The Lord is at work - the man who sows the seeds in the parable is the Son of Man (13:37) 2. The Christian life has many parallels with farming : it needs discipline, work in all seasons and many factors are out of your control. 3. Weeds are sown while the farmer sleeps - the enemy is real and seeks to derail the Kingdom of God. 4. There is a reward for the righteous - those who remain faithful to Christ.
