Adding anything to the work of Christ as a necessity for salvation throws a person back into a system of spiritual slavery that is no better than the spiritual slavery one came out of when he first believed in Christ. Further, when one thinks works needed to be added to Christ work, that one creates doubt as to whether he ever understood the gospel well enough to be saved.
