Introduction, In this passage of Scripture we see Paul�"s argument addressing the following: (1) Not all biological Jews are part of true Israel. (2) Some Gentiles are saved making them part of true Israel and descendents of Abraham and his faith. (3) All Christians (saved Jews and Gentiles) are true Israel and are descendents of Abraham�"s faith and the recipient of God�"s promises to that faith. In showing these points Paul also argues an underlying reality to the history of redemption: that God has the authoritative right to choose His people, and that He does exercise that right to choose His people on basis of His love, demonstrating this electing choice by effectual calling and changing the hearts and lives of those whom He saves by His grace, thus fulfilling His purpose and glorifying His name in the salvation of sinners.
