Part 1: What happened to rural America: understanding the history and causes of rural decline. We will define and examine why the exodus from rural America began, and look at various factors that perpetuate the gradual erosion of rural communities. We'll discuss little talked about but important issues that everyone who lives in a rural agricultural community should know about. We'll also connect the dots between historical rural population decline and the current debt and economic crisis that our nation is facing.
