Paul couldn’t warn often enough that false teachers always follow true teachers hoping to lead gullible believers into “new truth”. The “new truth” of Paul’s day was that trusting Jesus was a good start but completely insufficient to provide salvation. They taught that human effort was required to finish what Jesus started.
