5. Knowing Him - The First Miracle
Speaker: Ben Phillips
At a wedding no one expected to remember, something went quietly wrong—the wine ran out. In that culture, it meant shame, not inconvenience. Nearby sat six empty stone jars, ordinary and overlooked, meant only for ritual washing. Jesus didn’t make a scene or give an explanation. He simply gave an instruction. What happened next would reveal who He really is—but only to a few.
John calls this Jesus’ first sign, the moment He revealed His glory. Not in public, not with power on display, but in hidden emptiness. Joy replaced lack. Ritual gave way to transformation. And somehow, the best was saved for last. Why did Jesus choose this moment—and what does it tell us about how He still works today?
This Sunday, we’ll step into the tension of that moment at Cana and discover what this first miracle reveals about knowing Him—and what He may want to do in our own emptiness, mess, and disgrace.

Key Verse - John 2:11 (NIV) - "What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him."
