A FISHING EXCURSION WITH JESUS
Speaker: Dr. Jim Hewitt
Theme: As we look into the net Jesus draws ashore just one look shows us that his is filled with many different kinds of fish/people. He feels that every kind of fish should be in his boat. He loves all people, no one is excluded. He doesn’t toss any back. This text demonstrates the breadth, length, height, and depth of the graciousness of God and shows how accepting we should be of others too. When church growth or evangelism means the search for “people like us,” the saints are denied the power to comprehend just how effusive, extravagant, God means to be with God’s grace.

Benediction Dr. Jim Hewitt
My friends, as you go from this place, remember that you are fishers of men. Cast your nets again and again and venture out into the deep. Because of you, your corner of the world will hear of the love of Christ. Let it be so. And may the love, grace and peace of God be with you and all those you love, wherever they may be. Amen.

Brief History: Did you know? Jim Porter's great grandparent's, Mr. and Mrs. William Keely, rode 17 miles on horseback to attend organizational meetings for the establishment of Baptist church in Charleston (now Charleston Baptist Temple). His great grandmother, Lucy Keely, and his grandmother, Abby Keely, were active in the church, as were five great aunts and two great uncles.
