We must pour ourselves into praying for the spiritual health of disciples because only God has the power to prepare disciples for the King's return.

I. Disciple-makers pray for opportunities to disciple the disciples. (3:11)

Deuteronomy 6:4

A healthy prayer life protects us from trying to obey God without God.

Proverbs 16:9

II. Disciple-makers pray for growing love among disciples. (3:12)

1) The Source of Love: God

Ephesians 5:1-2

2) The Amount of Love: Limitless

3) The Recipients of Love: Everyone

1 John 3:11, 1 John 3:23, 1 John 4:21

4) The Example of Love: Disciple Makers

III. Disciple-makers pray for unwavering holiness to characterize disciples. (3:13a)

IV. Disciple-makers pray for spiritual health because that is what will matter when the King comes for His disciples. (3:13b)

#1 - Will this prayer matter when Jesus returns?

#2 - If God answers this prayer for my brother/sister in Christ, will he/she be more prepared for the coming of Jesus?
